It's Monday! What are you Reading? - Carrie Goes off the Map

It's Monday! is a meme hosted by Sheila over at Book Journey. It's a fun way to plan out your upcoming week of reading, and see what other people are currently reading. As part of this weekly meme Sheila encourages readers to go and visit the others participating in this meme.  She offers a weekly contest for those who visit 10 or more of the Monday Meme participants and leave a comment telling her how many you visited.  You do not have to have a blog to participate! You receive one entry for every 10 comments, just go to her blog and tell her how many you visited.

So, for this week I'm hoping to get a lot of quality reading done. Currently I'm reading a netgalley of Carrie Goes Off the Map by Phillipa Ashley.

It's pretty cute so far! It's all about this girl who gets jilted by a cheating fiance and decides to go on a roadtrip through Europe to get over it after seeing him get married to someone else only 4 months after their break-up. I hope to finish that one pretty soon.

Next, I'll start Pure by Julianna Baggott. This is also a netgalley book I received. This book is coming out at the beginning of February of next year. It sounds pretty good!

"Pressia barely remembers the Detonations or much about life during the Before. In her sleeping cabinet behind the rubble of an old barbershop where she lives with her grandfather, she thinks about what is lost-how the world went from amusement parks, movie theaters, birthday parties, fathers and mothers . . . to ash and dust, scars, permanent burns, and fused, damaged bodies. And now, at an age when everyone is required to turn themselves over to the militia to either be trained as a soldier or, if they are too damaged and weak, to be used as live targets, Pressia can no longer pretend to be small. Pressia is on the run.

There are those who escaped the apocalypse unmarked. Pures. They are tucked safely inside the Dome that protects their healthy, superior bodies. Yet Partridge, whose father is one of the most influential men in the Dome, feels isolated and lonely. Different. He thinks about loss-maybe just because his family is broken; his father is emotionally distant; his brother killed himself; and his mother never made it inside their shelter. Or maybe it's his claustrophobia: his feeling that this Dome has become a swaddling of intensely rigid order. So when a slipped phrase suggests his mother might still be alive, Partridge risks his life to leave the Dome to find her.
When Pressia meets Partridge, their worlds shatter all over again."

So, that's what my plan for the week is! With the holidays just around the corner, I'm hoping I still have plenty of time to read everything I want to read! What are you reading right now?

  1. I'm captivated by dystopian books lately (The Handmaid's Tale, When She Woke), so Pure looks really good to me.
