You know me! I love colors, I love art, and I love beautiful book covers. So this new feature here on my blog features my favorite covers from every color of the spectrum. I'll also feature a short explanation of the color's meaning so we can discuss if the predominate use of that color was a good choice.
This time, I'm featuring red covers. Red is the color of fire and blood, so it is associated with energy,
war, danger, strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire,
and love.
So, what do you think? If you've read these books, does the use of red on the cover reflect the subject matter of the story? What other red covers do you like?
I've read Catching Fire, a couple Verne novels and in October, my bookclub will be reading Dracula. That will be a reread for me.
ReplyDeleteI love this new feature. It's interesting how a lot of the covers have some of the same shades of red as the others. Ruby Red has such a pretty cover.
I think that with Catching Fire the red is really appropriate!
ReplyDeleteI really liked The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland, but the cover could have been any other random color, except that it goes really well with the red dragon ;) The red does give the book an oldfashioned fairytale feeling, which is nice.
Sooooo pretty!! I saw it and all I could do was ooooh and ahhhh! ;) I have read 1 out of the 9, but I have plans to read all of them eventually! I think these red cover are so gorgeous!! :D

ReplyDeleteThe Book of Lost Things (which I adored) also has a blue cover which I find a little jarring. There's just something about the red that feels right.
